Xestia efflorescens is a butterfly found in East Asia( moth ) fromthe owl butterfly family (Noctuidae).

The moths reach a wingspan of 40 to 45 millimeters. The upper side of the forewings is dark brown and more or less dusty green. In the post-fiscal region , an ocher-colored area stands out between the front edge and the middle of the wing. Ring and kidney defects are indistinct. There is a large black discal spot on the strong yellow upper side of the hind wing. A wide, straight black band runs from the wing root to the vicinity of the anal angle , the inner edge and a wide black band are also colored black. The fringes are yellow.
Similar species
Xestia efflorescens clearly differs from the ribbon types ( Catocala ) with yellow hind wings by the shape of the black central ribbon on the top of the hind wing, which is curved in the ribbon types.
distribution
The species occurs on Hokkaidō , Honshū , Shikoku , Kyushu , Tsushima and Yakushima as well as in the Amur area , in Korea and on Taiwan .
Way of life
The nocturnal moths fly in one generation between July and September. Details on the species' way of life have yet to be researched.
