Xiang Huaicheng

Xiang Huaicheng ( Chinese  项怀诚 , Pinyin Xiàng Huáichéng ; born February 1939 in Wujiang ) is a Chinese politician of the Communist Party of China .

Life

Xiang studied economics at Shandong University . In 1983 he became a member of the Chinese Communist Party. Xiang was Deputy Minister of Finance from 1986 to 1994, and Minister of Finance of the People's Republic of China from 1998 to 2003, succeeding Liu Zhongli . He was succeeded in office by Jin Renqing .

From 2003 to 2008 he was Director General of the National Social Security Fund.

He was a member of the 15th and 16th Central Committees of the Chinese Communist Party .

Today he is chairman of the China Development Institute, a think tank in Shenzhen .
