Xihulou
Xihulou ( Chinese 西湖 楼 , English West Lake Chamber ) is a restaurant in Changsha , the capital of the central Chinese province of Hunan , and is one of the largest restaurants in the world. With its 4,000 seats, it is considered the largest restaurant in China and Asia; after an entry in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest Chinese restaurant in the world.
history
The Xihulou was founded in 2000 by Ms. Qin Lingzhi at the foot of West Lake Mountain in the medieval city of Liuyang . At the beginning of 2003, the construction of the new catering facility on an unprecedented scale began in the Kaifu District of Changsha City. After more than a year of construction, the new West Lake Chamber was opened in October 2004.
Location, service and operation
The restaurant complex is located 20 minutes from Huanghua International Airport and covers an area of 88 mu (approximately 5.8 hectares) in the Jinma Restaurant City, which is currently under construction . Across the street is Changsha's largest park, Yuehu Park. The numerous buildings and parks were built in the traditional architectural style. The entire complex comprises four different areas. Area A has 70 larger and smaller rooms, including the performance hall, where performances take place every day. Area B includes ten luxury booths in the style of imperial palaces. Area C has nine luxury Cantonese-style booths and Area D is a Snack Food Street . Are primarily offered traditional Chinese dishes of Hunan cuisine and Cantonese cuisine , prepared in five large kitchens. 1,000 people are employed in the restaurant, including 300 cooks. Around 700 chickens and 2,600 pounds of pork are processed each week.
In October 2004, the Xihulou was confirmed as the largest restaurant in China by the Shanghai Guinness Record Headquarters. In May 2006, the Changsha City Tourism Bureau named it “First 5-Star Tourism Restaurant”.
