Xilin Hot ( Chinese  锡林浩特 市 , Pinyin Xīlín Hàotè Shì ; Mongolian ᠰᠢᠯᠢ ᠶᠢᠨ ᠬᠣᠲᠠ Shili-yin hota ) is an independent city of the Xilin Gol Federation in the northern center of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region ofthe People's Republic of China . It has an area of ​​15,758 km² and has 150,000 inhabitants. Xilin Hot is the federal capital.

In May 2011, the Mongols protested in the city against the Beijing government's mining policy, which promotes increased coal mining in the region and regards it as an energy source. The government of the autonomous region then called on the mining industry to meet their social responsibilities .
