The Left Alxa Banner ( 阿拉善 左旗 , Ālāshàn Zuǒ Qí ; Mongolian ᠠᠯᠠᠱᠠ
ᠵᠡᠭᠦᠨ
ᠬᠣᠰᠢᠭᠤ Alaša Jegün qosiɣu ) is a banner of the administrative division at the district level called the Alxa Bund in the far west of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China . It has an area of 80,412 km² and has around 140,000 inhabitants (2004). Its main town is the large community of Bayan Hot (巴彦浩特 镇).
The site Dingyuanying (定远营, today greater community Bayan Hot (巴彦浩特镇)) is on the list since 2001 monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-491) .
