Location of Xilin Gol in Inner Mongolia

Xilin Gol is an aimag in the center of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China . The Xilin Gol Bund has an area of ​​202,580 km² and around 1,046,900 inhabitants (end of 2016). The capital and seat of the federal government is the independent city of Xilin Hot . Xilin Gol borders in the north on a length of 1,098 km with the state of Mongolia , in the east with the cities of Chifeng , Tongliao and the Bund Hinggan , in the west with the city of Ulanqab and in the south with the cities of Chengde and Zhangjiakou of the Hebei province .

Administrative structure

At the county level, Xilin Gol is made up of two independent cities, a county and nine banners. These are:

  • Xilin Hot City (锡林浩特 市), 15,758 km², 150,000 inhabitants;
  • City of Eren Hot (二连浩特 市), 450 km², 20,000 inhabitants;
  • District Duolun (多伦县), 3,773 km², 100,000 inhabitants, main town: large municipality Dolon Nur (多伦 淖尔 镇);
  • Abag-Banner (阿巴嘎旗), 27,495 km², approx. 40,000 inhabitants, main town: Biligtai (别 力 古 台 镇);
  • Left Sonid banner (苏尼特 左旗), 33,469 km², approx. 30,000 inhabitants, main town: Greater Mandalt community (满 都拉 图 镇);
  • Right Sonid banner (苏尼特 右 旗), 26,700 km², approx. 70,000 inhabitants, main town: Saihan Tal (赛汉塔拉 镇);
  • Eastern Ujimqin banner (东 乌珠穆沁 旗), 47,554 km², approx. 70,000 inhabitants, main town: Ulyastai municipality (乌里雅斯 太 镇);
  • Western Ujimqin banner (西 乌珠穆沁 旗), 22,960 km², approx. 70,000 inhabitants, main town: Balgar Gol (巴拉嘎尔 高 勒 镇);
  • Taipusi banner (太仆寺旗), 3,415 km², approx. 200,000 inhabitants, main town: Baochang municipality (宝昌 镇);
  • Xianghuang banner (镶黄旗 = yellow banner ), 4,960 km², approx. 30,000 inhabitants, main town: Xin Bulag municipality (新 宝 拉格 镇);
  • Zhengxiangbai banner (正镶白旗 = pure and captured white banner ), 6,083 km², approx. 70,000 inhabitants, main town: Mingantu municipality (明安 图 镇);
  • Zhenglan banner (正 蓝旗 = pure blue banner ), 9,963 km², approx. 80,000 inhabitants, main town: Shangdu (上 都 镇).

history

At the beginning of the Shang Dynasty, nomadic tribes moved to this area. Counties were established here in the Qin Dynasty to temporarily administer this region. As the second capital, Xinlingol was an important central city of the Yuan Dynasty .
