Ulanqab is a prefecture-level city in the center of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the north of the People's Republic of China . It extends from 39 ° 37 'to 43 ° 28' north latitude and from 109 ° 16 'to 114 ° 49' east longitude. The city of Ulanqab emerged on December 1, 2003 from the Ulanqab Bund (乌兰察布 盟Wulanchabu Meng ). The former city of Jining was converted into the Jining District.
geography
The administrative area of the city of Ulanqab has an area of 54,491 km². It borders the city of Hohhot to the west, the state of Mongolia to the north for more than 100 km , the Xilin Gol Bund to the northeast, Hebei Province to the east and Shanxi Province to the south . The largest east-west extension is about 458 km, the largest north-south extension about 442 km. By the end of 2016, Ulanqab had a population of around 2.11 million people.
Administrative structure
The city of Ulanqab is made up of a district, five districts, four banners and a district-free city. These are:
- Jining District (集 宁 区), 114 km², 260,000 inhabitants (2004), seat of the city government, administrative center;
- Zhuozi District (卓 资 县), 3,119 km², 230,000 inhabitants (2004), main town: Zhuozishan Municipality (卓 资 山镇);
- Huade district (化 德 县), 2,527 km², 160,000 inhabitants, capital: Changshun municipality (长顺 镇);
- Shangdu district (商 都 县), 4,304 km², 330,000 inhabitants, capital: Shangdu municipality (商 都 镇);
- District Xinghe (兴和县), km² 3520, 300,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Chengguan (城关镇);
- Liangcheng County (凉城 县), 3,451 km², 230,000 inhabitants, capital: Daihai Municipality (岱海 镇);
- Front Qahar banner of the right wing (察哈尔 右翼 前 旗), 2,734 km², 260,000 inhabitants (2004), main town: Tugin Ul (土 贵 乌拉 镇);
- Middle Qahar banner of the right wing (察哈尔 右翼 中 旗), 4,200 km², 210,000 inhabitants (2004), main town: Hobor municipality (科布尔 镇);
- Rear Qahar banner of the right wing (察哈尔 右翼 后 旗), 3,803 km², 210,000 inhabitants (2004), capital: Bayan Qagan Municipality (白 音 察 干 镇);
- Siziwang-Banner (四子王旗), 24,016 km², 200,000 inhabitants (2004), capital: Ulan Hua municipality (乌兰 花 镇);
- City of Fengzhen (丰镇 市), 2,703 km², 310,000 inhabitants (2004).
