XITE is established in 2008 interactive music television station from Amsterdam , who mainly plays music videos. It was released on May 21, 2008 and is broadcast 24 hours a day in the Netherlands , Germany and Belgium . The target group is between 13 and 28 years of age.

history

When it was launched on the market in 2008, the name Base7 was used; the transmitter was stationed in Rotterdam at the time . The transmitter was initially available in the basic package from UPC and Caiway. In August 2009, an on-demand system appeared that can be controlled using the red button on the remote control. Since then, viewers have been able to compile their own playlists, sort them by genre and access special content and interviews. In May 2012, XITE was the only music broadcaster to be included in Ziggo 's basic digital package , followed by KPN in January 2013 .

XITE started in Belgium in February 2011. It reaches around 1.6 million households in Belgium and around 15 million households in total.

XITE has also been broadcast in Germany since September 2014. It was available through the cable network provider Unitymedia in western Germany until 2019. Since 2017, XITE has also been available on Waipu.tv .

Internet functions

XITE's personalized music television offers viewers the opportunity to create their own channel. Algorithmic personalization takes place through various settings, such as music direction, mood and liking or pressing on songs. The viewer can put together their own station with little effort.

The XITE Awards have been held annually in Amsterdam since 2013 .
