Georgios Kalyvas ( Greek Γεώργιος Καλυβάς , born December 6, 1978 in Montreal , Québec , Canada ) is a former Canadian - Greek ice hockey player who was last under contract with Iptameni Pagodromi Athens in the Greek ice hockey league until 2013 . His brother Dimitrios was also a Greek international.

Career

Georgios Kalyvas, who was born in Montreal to Greek immigrants, began his career as a hockey player in his native Canada. From 2007 to 2013 he played for the Greek record champions Iptameni Pagodromi Athens in the Greek ice hockey league . With the club he won the Greek championship title in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2013. After winning the fourth title, he ended his active career at the age of just under 35.

International

With the Greek national team , Kalyvas first took part in the D World Championships in 1998 and 1999 . After switching to the current division system he played in 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , when he, together with the Irish Mark Morrison scorer and together with the Irishman Sean Dooley and Gareth Roberts behind his brother Dimitrios was the tournament's third best and Morrison scorer in 2012 and 2013 in Division III, although he had to play a qualifying tournament with the Hellenes in 2008 and 2013.
