Gareth Roberts (born October 1, 1986 in Belfast , Northern Ireland , United Kingdom ) is a former Northern Irish ice hockey player who played for the Belfast Giants in the Elite Ice Hockey League and the Scottish National League until 2015 . Internationally he played for the Irish national ice hockey team .

Career

Gareth Roberts first played in the Republic of Ireland for the Dundalk Bulls in the Irish Ice Hockey League . In 2010 he moved to Belfast, the city of his birth, and played there for the Belfast Giants in the Elite Ice Hockey League , with whom he became British champions in 2012 and 2014 . Most recently he played for the club in the Scottish National League and retired in 2015.

International

The British citizen Roberts played for Ireland in the world championships of Division II in 2008 and 2011 as well as Division III in 2005 , 2009 , 2010 , when he, together with his compatriot Sean Dooley and the Greek Georgios Kalyvas, was the third best scorer behind his teammate Mark Morrison and the Greek Dimitrios Kalyvas was in 2011 , in 2012 , when he was with the most goals and assists leading scorer and was consequently also selected his team the best striker of the tournament and the best players, and in 2013 , when he moved to the South Africans Joshua Reinecke was the second top scorer of the tournament, in part .
