Xu Chao (born November 5, 1994 ) is a Chinese track cyclist who specializes in short-term disciplines.

Athletic career

Xu Chao started his cycling career on the road until he focused on the track. In 2013 he became Asian champion in the team sprint together with Hu Ke and Tang Qui . At the East Asian Games in the same year he was third in the sprint . In the following years he stood several times with Hu Ke and Bao Sai Fei on the podium in the team sprint at Asian championships, and in 2015 he became the Chinese champion in the keirin . At the 2015/16 Track Cycling World Cup in Hong Kong , he came second in the sprint.

At the Asian Cycling Championships in 2016 , Xu Chao won three silver medals. He was then nominated for the start in the sprint at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro ; he finished sixth. In 2018 he won the Asian Games with Li Jianxin and Zhou Yu in the team sprint . In 2019 he won silver in the sprint and team sprint at the Asian Championships (with Guo Shuai and Zhou Yu ).
