Xue Yue
Xue Yue ( Chinese 薛岳 , Pinyin Xuē Yuè ; * December 26, 1896 , † May 3, 1998 ) was a Chinese general who fought on the side of the Chinese Republic during the Second Sino-Japanese War . In the battles for Changsha of 1939 , 1941 and 1942 he succeeded in repelling Japanese attempts to take the city. Only after the Battle of Changsha in 1944 could the Japanese occupy the strategically important city.
