Defending champion was James Willstrop , who reached the semifinals that year. He was eliminated from the eventual tournament winner Ramy Ashour from Egypt after four sets. In the final, the top seeded Ashour defeated the second seeded Englishman Nick Matthew with 11: 7, 11: 8, 5:11 and 11: 7. For Ashour this was the second title win in Richmond after 2009 and the second World Series title of the current season.
