Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Forero (born December 20, 1985 in Bogotá ) is a Colombian squash player .

Career

Miguel Ángel Rodríguez began his professional career in the 2005 season and has so far won 29 tournaments on the PSA World Tour , mainly in South America. He reached his highest place in the world rankings with fourth place in June 2015. This made him the best South American in the history of the PSA world rankings.

He won a total of three medals at the Pan American Games in 2007 and 2011. In 2007 he reached the semi-finals in Rio de Janeiro and received the bronze medal. With the Colombian team he won gold after defeating Canada. In 2011 he won his second gold medal in individual singles in Guadalajara . He defeated César Salazar in the final . In 2015 he defended his title with a final win against Diego Elías , while he lost to Elías in the final in 2019 . With Catalina Peláez he won the gold medal in the first mixed mixed , with the team he came second. At the South American Games 2010 in Medellín he won the gold medal in the individual, team and mixed disciplines. From 2012 to 2014 he was the Pan American champion three times in a row . He also won the mixed title in these three years. With the Colombian national team , he took part in the 2013 and 2019 World Championships . At the World Games 2013 he won the bronze medal.

In 2018 he became the first South American and at the same time the first unseeded player to win the British Open .
