Squash was part of the Central American and Caribbean Games for the first time in 2002. Medals are awarded in a total of seven competitions: there is a single, a double and a team competition for men and women. There is also a mixed game. Usually there is no match for the bronze medal, the losers of the semi-finals both receive bronze. The 2006 and 2010 team competitions were an exception.
By far the most successful nation is Mexico , whose players have won gold medals in 26 of 35 competitions so far. In total, the Mexican players secured 40 medals, four more than Colombia with 36 medals. Colombia ranks second in the medal table with seven gold medals. Ten nations were able to place in the medal table. Among the players, Samantha Terán leads the ranking of the most successful athletes: she won 14 gold and two silver medals.
