Korla Hendrich Warko
Korla Hendrich Warko , German Karl Heinrich Warko (born April 21, 1837 in Weißwasser , Upper Lusatia , † October 30, 1897 in Reichenbach , Upper Lusatia), was a Sorbian teacher and author .
life and work
Korla Hendrich was a son of the teacher Jan Warko (Johann Klappig) and Maria Masula (Kliemann). He attended the teacher training course in Muskau and, since 1854, the teacher training college in Bunzlau in Silesia . From 1857 he worked as a teacher in Nieda , Weigersdorf , Muskau and Groß Düben in Upper Lusatia, and from 1868 he taught at the teachers' college in Reichenbach. In 1871 he took a position as teacher and cantor in Muschelwitz . In 1896 he retired and moved back to Reichenbach, where he died the following year.
Korla Hendrich Warko published German language exercises for Wendish schools in Upper Lusatia in 1865, he published in the magazines Bramborski Serbski Casnik , Łužičan and Pomhaj Bóh in Upper and Lower Sorbian , he wrote didactic children's songs and translated Russian and Czech texts.
