Squash at the Pan American Games
Squash has been part of the Pan American Games since 1995. Medals were initially awarded in four competitions: for women and men, in both individual and team competitions. Since 2011 there has also been a double competition for both genders, so that a total of six medals are awarded in squash.
Balance sheet
With a total of 13 out of 35 possible gold medals, Canada is the most successful nation. In addition, Canada managed to win all competitions at the games in their domestic Winnipeg in 1999. The United States has won gold eleven times, Colombia and Mexico five times each. While both sexes were equally successful with the Canadians, the United States was dominated by women: of 30 medals, only eight were won in the men's category.
There is no bronze medal match in the individual competitions. The losers in the semi-finals will both receive bronze. The organizer was able to decide independently in the team competitions. So there was a bronze game in 1995, since then the duel has been canceled.
Men's
Until 2007, no one managed to break Canada's dominance. It was not until Rio de Janeiro that a squash player who was not from Canada won gold for the first time, the Mexican Eric Gálvez. Canada also had to bend in the team competition, losing to the Colombian selection in the final. Surprisingly, Jonathon Power , former world champion and world number one, never entered the list of gold winners. Only a silver medal at the 1995 games in Mar del Plata is for him. This means that the individual victory at the Pan American Games remains one of the very few titles that Power has never won.

Ladies
The finals of the women's competitions were always a purely Canadian-US affair until 2011. The Canadians won five of the eight finals. It was only in 2011 that the Mexican Samantha Terán managed to end this supremacy of the two North American associations.
