Diego Elías Chehab (born November 19, 1996 in Lima ) is a Peruvian squash player .
Career
Diego Elías already celebrated major successes during his time with the juniors. He won the British Junior Open and the US Open, among others . In 2013 he won the Pan-American championships and was South American champion in the highest age group, the U19 juniors. In the same year he took part in the World Games for Peru , but was eliminated in the first round against Raphael Kandra . At the Junior World Championships in 2013, he failed in the quarter-finals to Fares Dessouki before winning the title in Windhoek in 2014 . Without losing a set, he prevailed over the course of the tournament and defeated Omar El Atmas in the final 11: 3, 11: 2 and 11: 1. In 2015 he successfully defended his title with a 3-0 final win over Youssef Soliman .
He started his professional career in 2014 and has won seven tournaments on the PSA World Tour so far . He achieved his first tournament victory in May 2014 in Resistencia against Leandro Romiglio , making Elías the first Peruvian to win a PSA title. He reached his highest place in the world rankings with sixth place in January 2020.
At the Pan American Games in 2015 , he won a silver medal in singles and a bronze medal in doubles. In 2019 , he won the gold medal in singles in Lima , while he won another bronze medal in doubles . In 2018 he became the individual panamerican champion after beating Christopher Binnie in the final .
