Career

Rösner already played extremely successfully in his youth and won all national titles from the U15 category. With his hometown club SC Lengfeld at the time , he also played in the 1st Bundesliga early on . He achieved his greatest success to date in the youth field: At the U19 European Championship in Langnau am Albis , Rösner won both the individual and the team competition. In 2003, at the age of 16, he decided to become a professional. With position 19 in the January world ranking list 2012, Rösner became the first German top 20 player in the world ranking list for 16 years. He achieved his best placement to date with third place in December 2018. After moving to Paderborner SC , several national and international championship titles followed with the team, as well as being appointed to the national team.

With the German national team , he took part in world championships in 2005 , 2007 , 2009 , 2011 , 2013 , 2017 and 2019 . With fifth place, he achieved the best result of a German team at a world championship in 2013.

In the 2012 season he became the first German to qualify for the World Series Finals for the first time , but benefited from Ramy Ashour's cancellation . Despite a win over Karim Darwish , he did not get beyond the group stage. At the World Games 2013 he reached the final in third place after defeating Peter Barker for the first time in the semifinals . In the final he lost to Grégory Gaultier and thus won the silver medal. Shortly afterwards he reached the final of the European championship in singles for the first time, in which he also met Grégory Gaultier. Rösner lost again in four sets and became vice European champion. At first he achieved his greatest success on the PSA World Tour in December 2013 in Kuwait at a tournament in the International 50 category . In the final, he beat Borja Golán in three straight sets and won his seventh career title. At the same time, this was his first victory in a tournament of this category. At the World Games 2017 , Rösner entered the tournament as the top seeded player and ultimately won the gold medal after beating Grégoire Marche 3-1 . For this he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier , the first German squash player . In January 2018, Rösner won the Tournament of Champions after beating Tarek Momen in the final, making him the first German to win a PSA World Series tournament . In the 2018/19 season he reached the final of both the US Open and the Qatar Classic . At the 2018/19 World Cup , Rösner not only survived the round of 16 for the first time in his career, but also made it to the semi-finals, in which he was defeated by future world champion Ali Farag . In the following season he repeated this success with another semi-finals . Against Tarek Momen, he was eliminated in four sets.

At national level he won the German championship eleven times in a row from 2007 to 2017 . He has been married since August 2018, and in December 2018 he and his wife had a son.
