The 40th Men's Squash World Championship (officially PSA World Championships presented by the Walter Family 2018-2019 ) took place from February 23 to March 2, 2019 at the Chicago Union Station in Chicago , United States . It was the most highly endowed tournament of the PSA World Tour 2018/19 . At the same time, the women's world championship took place at the same location .

The defending champion was Mohamed Elshorbagy , who defeated his brother Marwan in five sets last year . Elshorbagy was eliminated in the semi-finals against Tarek Momen , who met Ali Farag , who was second in the final . Farag won the game with 11: 5, 11:13, 13:11 and 11: 3 and thus also his first world title.

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 64 players. The best 56 players in the world rankings from January 2019 qualified automatically, the best 16 of them were seeded. Five places were from the PSA awarded through qualifying tournaments on the PSA Challenger Tour, another reigning World Champion got the juniors. If these players were already qualified via the world rankings, the starting place was given either to the defeated final opponent of the respective qualifying tournament or to the next player in the world rankings.
