World Squash Championship 1980

The fourth World Squash Championship for Men ( English 1980 Men's World Open Squash Championship ) was held from 4 to 10 October 1980 in Adelaide , Australia , instead. This was the second time since 1977 that Adelaide hosted the competition.

Defending champion Geoff Hunt managed to win the world championship for the fourth time in a row. Top seeded, he defeated Gogi Alauddin in three sets in the quarter-finals and Hiddy Jahan in four sets in the semi-finals , before defeating Qamar Zaman 9-0, 9-3 and 9-3 in the final . Hunt and Zaman contested the final of the world championship for the third time in a row.
