Steven Mangirri Bowditch (born August 9, 1955 in Darwin ) is a former Australian squash player .

Career

Steve Bowditch played squash in the 1970s and 1980s. He achieved his highest ranking in the world rankings with rank 16 in August 1986. He started playing squash in 1966 and became a professional player in 1977.

With the Australian national team he took in 1981 at the World Cup in part. He led the team as captain and reached with her the final against Pakistan , which was lost 3-0. Bowditch had to give up his game against Jahangir Khan in the second set due to an injury. From 1977 to 1985 he was eight times in a row in the main draw of the individual world championships. He reached the second round five times. In addition to the international softball tour of the International Squash Players Association , he also played on the hardball tour of the American World Professional Squash Association , on which he was ranked second in the 1986 ranking. For his successes he was inducted into the Squash Australia Hall of Fame . After his career, Bowditch also worked as a coach, among other things.
