Squash World Championship 1991
The 15th World Squash Championship for Men ( English 1991 Men's World Open Squash Championship ) was held from July 30 to August 4, 1991 in Adelaide , Australia instead. Adelaide had already been the venue in 1977 and 1980 . The prize money was $ 130,000.
Defending champion Jansher Khan , who also led the world rankings, failed in the quarter-finals against Rodney Martin with 0: 3. He missed the final for the first time since 1987. Martin defeated Chris Dittmar , number three in the world, 3-1 in the semifinals , before defeating number two in the world, Jahangir Khan , with 14:17, 15: 9, 15: 4 and 15:13 in the final . This was Martin's first world title, and he was also the first player ever to beat both Jansher and Jahangir Khan in the same tournament.
