Simon Armor Parke (born October 8, 1972 in Oakham ) is a retired English squash player .

Career

Simon Parke began his professional career in August 1988. He already had great successes in the juniors, such as winning the 1990 World Junior Championship against David Campion . His greatest successes in the active field include winning the World Team Championship in 1995 and 1997 with the English national team and nine titles at European championships . He was also featured in numerous other championships, such as the 1999 World Team Championship . In 1998 he became British champion, in 1999 he won the US Open against Jonathon Power . In the 1997/98 and 1999/00 seasons he was in the finals of the Super Series , but lost both times to Jansher Khan and Peter Nicol . At the Commonwealth Games 1998 he won the bronze medal in mixed with Suzanne Horner . In his career he won six titles on the PSA World Tour and reached third place in October 2000, his highest place in the world rankings. In December 2006 he announced his retirement from international squash.

Private

In December 1995, Simon Parke was diagnosed with testicular cancer. In January 1996, an operation followed with chemotherapy. In May 1996 he took part in tournaments again. Simon Parke was married between 2002 and 2003. In May 2009 he married Jayne Massarella, daughter of WSF referee John Massarella. In September 2014 they became parents to a daughter.
