Austin Adarraga Almirall (* 1965 in Townsville , Australia ) is a former Spanish squash player .

Career

Austin Adarraga grew up in his native Australia and played for the first time in a national junior competition in Spain when he was on vacation in Barcelona with his Spanish grandparents. His parents are Spanish emigrants. During his time with the juniors he reached the quarterfinals of the Junior World Championship under Geoff Hunt . He moved to Madrid in 1984 at the age of 19 and began his professional career. From then on he also competed for Spain , which he represented at several European and world championships, including the 1987 World Cup . In 1992 he reached the semi-finals as a qualifier, which he lost to Jansher Khan in four sets. In May 1993, he reached eleventh place in the world rankings, his highest ranking. He was four times Spanish national champion between 1988 and 1994 . In 1995 he ended his career and moved the center of his life, which he had previously lived in Elche for many years , back to Australia.

His brother Xavier was also a squash player and was a Spanish national player for several years.
