Phil Kenyon (born May 7, 1956 in Blackpool ) is a retired English squash player .

Career

Phil Kenyon was active as a squash player between 1976 and 1988 and in February 1987 he reached fourth place in the world rankings. He won a title on the PSA Tour during his career . In 1985 he defeated Steve Bowditch in the finals of the Hong Kong Open .

With the British national team he became world champion for the first time in 1979 . With the now English national team , he then took part in the World Cup in 1981 , 1983 , 1985 and 1987 . In 1983 the team reached the final against Pakistan , but Kenyon lost his game like his teammates. At European Championships he was with the national team in 1976 , 1978 , 1979 and 1982 European champion.

From 1980 to 1990 Phil Kenyon was eleven times in the main field of the individual world championship. His best performance was reaching the quarter-finals in 1982 and 1983 . Both times he was defeated by Jahangir Khan . He won the British championship four times. He was also New Zealand champion in 1978 , as the tournament was also open to players from abroad.
