The 34th Squash Championship ( English PSA World Championship ) Men took place from 6 to 14 December 2012 in the Aspire Academy in Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha , Qatar instead. It was the most valuable tournament on the PSA World Tour 2012/13 .

Defending champion was Nick Matthew , who was eliminated in the semifinals against eventual winner Ramy Ashour . In the final, Ashour met his Egyptian compatriot Mohamed Elshorbagy , who was in his first World Cup final. For Ashour it was the third final after winning the title in 2008 and losing to Amr Shabana in 2009 . With 2:11, 11: 6, 11: 5, 9:11, 11: 8, Ramy Ashour secured his second world title and also regained the lead in the world rankings in January 2013. The to date leader James Willstrop was eliminated in the semifinals against Elshorbagy.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the Squash World Championships 2012, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize pool was $ 325,000.
