Marwan Elshorbagy (born July 30, 1993 in Alexandria ) is an Egyptian squash player .

Life

Marwan Elshorbagy grew up like his brother Mohamed Elshorbagy , also a squash player, in his native Alexandria before they both attended Millfield School in Somerset in England . Like his brother, he then started his studies at the University of the West of England in Bristol , which he successfully completed in 2014.

Career

Marwan Elshorbagy started his professional career in 2010 and has won ten tournaments on the PSA World Tour so far . He achieved his highest position in the world rankings with third place in May 2018. Even during his time with the juniors he celebrated great successes. In 2011 and 2012 he won the Junior World Championship, which he won both times against Mohamed Abouelghar . In 2011 in Herentals he won clearly in three sets, the following year in Doha the game ended 3-1. In 2010 and 2012 he won a total of two titles at the British Junior Open. As early as 2011 , he reached the round of 16 at the World Championship for professional players when he defeated Daryl Selby, who was 11th seed, in five sets in the second round . In 2017 he took part in the World Cup with the Egyptian national team and won the title with them.
