World Squash Championship 2005

The 27 Squash World Cup ( English PSA World Championship ) of the men was from 29 November to 4 December 2005 in Hong Kong instead. It was the most valuable tournament on the PSA World Tour 2005/06 .

Defending champion was Thierry Lincou , who reached the quarter-finals that year. World champion was the Egyptian Amr Shabana , who defeated David Palmer in the final with 11: 6, 11: 7 and 11: 8. It was Shabana's second world title after 2003 . Palmer had already triumphed in 2002. On the way to the final, he defeated Simon Parke , Olli Tuominen , Vice World Champion Lee Beachill and Peter Nicol . Palmer was able to defeat Laurens Jan Anjema , Mohd Azlan Iskandar , Anthony Ricketts and James Willstrop in the preliminary rounds .

There were no participants from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The men's field of participants consisted of 32 players, eight of them for qualifiers. Per Wildcard received Wong Wai Hang a spot in the main draw.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the Squash World Championship 2005 the following world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. The total prize pool was $ 170,000.
