At the first World Cup in Pakistan and Asia, defending champion Jahangir Khan managed to win the tournament in front of a home crowd for the fourth time in a row. During the entire tournament he remained without a set loss and allowed a total of only 28 individual points against himself. In the final he defeated Qamar Zaman 9: 0, 9: 3 and 9.4. With his fourth title, Khan drew level with the previous record winner Geoff Hunt . Qamar Zaman, however, failed for the fourth time in the final.
