Sohail Qaiser (born November 30, 1963 in Lahore , † August 14, 2016 ) was a Pakistani squash player .

Career

Sohail Qaiser began his career in the mid-1980s and won a title on the PSA World Tour until he retired . He achieved his best position in the world rankings with rank 19 in May 1984. In his junior years he became world champion in 1982 after a final victory over Chris Dittmar .

With the Pakistani national team , he took part in the 1985 World Cup. Qaiser won the decisive game against Paul Viggers in the final against New Zealand 3-0 and secured Pakistan the 2-1 victory.

From 1981 to 1989 he was six times in the main field of the individual world championships. His best performance was reaching the round of 16, which he achieved in 1984 , 1985 and 1989 .

He was the nephew of Gogi Alauddin , who was also active as a squash player.

He died on August 14, 2016 after suffering from cancer .
