Philip "Phil" Whitlock (born February 28, 1962 in Belfast , Northern Ireland ) is a retired English squash player .

Career

Phil Whitlock began his professional career in the mid-1980s and was active on the PSA World Tour until 1995 . During this time he won a title on the tour, 1993 in Canada. His highest ranking in the world rankings he reached eighth in January 1994. In the same year he qualified the only time for the PSA Super Series Finals , where he failed in the group stage. With the England team he took in 1993 at the World Cup in part, finishing in third place. At European Championships he won the title with the national team in 1988, 1993 and 1994.

Between 1987 and 1995 he was eight times in a row in the main field of the individual world championship. His best result was reaching the last sixteen, which he achieved in 1993 and 1994 . He was eliminated in 1993 by Peter Marshall and in 1994 by Jansher Khan . In 1993 he won the British championship.

Phil Whitlock is currently the trainer of his daughter Emily Whitlock , who is also active as a squash player.
