Neven Barbour (* 1947 or 1948 ) is a former New Zealand squash player , trainer and official.

Career

Neven Barbour, who came into contact with squash in 1963 at the age of 15, was active as a squash player in the 1970s and 1980s. From 1972 to 1983 he was a member of the New Zealand national team . With this he took part in the world championships in 1973 , 1976 , 1977 , 1979 , 1981 and 1983 . In 1977 he was runner- up with the team behind Pakistan . In 1980 , he was in the main draw of the World Cup and reached the second round. He won the New Zealand National Championship in 1973 and 1974 .

He was President of the Oceania Squash Federation and from 2002 Vice President of the World Squash Federation . In 2010 he was inducted into the New Zealand Squash Hall of Fame . As early as 1990, the New Zealand Squash Association , of which he was temporarily chairman, had appointed him a member for life. He also worked as a coach for the national team and looked after them at the 1999 World Cup .

Barbour has been married to Julie Greendale since 1969, who was also a national squash player. He has a son.
