JP Morgan Tournament of Champions 2018

The JP Morgan Tournament of Champions 2018 took place January 18-25, 2018 at Grand Central Station in New York City , United States . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2017/18 and belonged to the PSA World Series category . The women's tournament was part of the women's PSA World Tour 2017/18 and also belonged to the PSA World Series category .

Last year's winner for men was Karim Abdel Gawad , for women it was Camille Serme . In the men's category, Gawad and world champion Mohamed Elshorbagy and his brother, vice world champion Marwan Elshorbagy , were eliminated in the second round. For the first time in his career, Simon Rösner not only reached the final of a World Series tournament, but also won the final against Tarek Momen with 11: 8, 11: 9, 6:11 and 11: 5. It was the ninth title of his career. In the women's competition, the top seeded Nour El Sherbini prevailed, beating Nour El Tayeb in the final with 2:11, 11: 6, 4:11, 11: 7 and 11: 7 .

The fields of participants in the men's and women's competitions each consisted of 32 players, eight of which were starting places for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded for the men and the 16 best women for the women. Per Wildcard received Marina Stefanoni and Todd Harrity a starting place in the respective main field.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize money was $ 165,000 each.
