JP Morgan Tournament of Champions 2017

The JP Morgan Tournament of Champions 2017 took place January 12-19, 2017 at Grand Central Station in New York City , United States . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2016/17 and belonged to the PSA World Series category . The women's tournament was part of the women's PSA World Tour 2016/17 and also belonged to the PSA World Series category .

Last year's winner for men was Mohamed Elshorbagy , for women it was Nour El Sherbini . The reigning world champion Karim Abdel Gawad won the men's tournament in four sets against Grégory Gaultier . The women's competition was won by Camille Serme , who beat Laura Massaro in five sets .

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 32 players, eight of which were starting places for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded. 32 players competed in the women's competition, eight of them starting for qualifiers. The 16 best players were seeded. Per Wildcard received Todd Harrity in the men's and Natalie Grinham a spot in the main draw in the women each. Grinham ended her career after being eliminated in the first round.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize money for the men and women was US $ 150,000 each.
