JP Morgan Tournament of Champions 2019

The 2019 JP Morgan Tournament of Champions took place January 16-24, 2019 at Grand Central Station in New York City , United States . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2018/19 and belonged to the PSA World Tour Platinum category . At the same time, a women's squash tournament of the 2018/19 PSA World Tour took place. It also belonged to the PSA World Tour Platinum category .

Last year's winners were Simon Rösner for the men and Nour El Sherbini for the women. Rösner was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Karim Abdel Gawad , who failed in the semifinals against Mohamed Elshorbagy . The final between the two top seeded players, Elshorbagy and Ali Farag , was decided by Farag 10:12, 6:11, 11: 6, 11: 3 and 11: 8. Nour El Sherbini defended her title with a final win over Raneem El Weleily . She won 11: 9, 11: 8 and 11: 8 and became the first player to win the tournament for the third time.

The fields of participation in the men's and women's competition consisted of 48 players each. The eight best male players and the 16 best female players were seeded. Per Wildcard received Chris Hanson in the men's and Marina Stefanoni a spot in the main draw in the women each. In both fields, a starting place was also awarded via a pre-qualification.

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. The amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize money was $ 180,000 each.
