The JP Morgan Tournament of Champions 2014 took place January 17-24, 2014 at Grand Central Station in New York City , United States . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2013/14 and belonged to the World Series Gold category . The women's squash tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2013/14 and belonged to the Gold 50 category .

Defending champion for men was Ramy Ashour , for women Natalie Grinham . Ashour announced on January 7, 2014 that he was not starting due to an ongoing injury. In the men's competition, the four-time world champion Amr Shabana prevailed, followed by the reigning world champion Nick Matthew , James Willstrop and the second in the world rankings Grégory Gaultierconquered. In the final, he clearly defeated Gaultier 11: 8, 11: 3 and 11: 4. It was Shabana's first victory in a World Series tournament since 2011. With the defeat in the final, Gaultier missed the sole world rankings from February 2014, but when he made it to the final, he reached equal points with the leader Nick Matthew. In the women's category, Nicol David won , who did not make a set during the tournament. In the final she defeated Laura Massaro 11: 4, 13:11 and 11: 8.

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 32 players, eight of which were starting places for qualifiers. 16 players competed in the women's competition, four of which were starting places for qualifiers. Per Wildcard received Todd Harrity in the men's and Latasha Khan a spot in the main draw in the women each.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize pool was $ 115,000 for the men and $ 50,000 for the women.
