Defending champion for men was Ramy Ashour , for women Natalie Grinham . Ashour announced on January 7, 2014 that he was not starting due to an ongoing injury. In the men's competition, the four-time world champion Amr Shabana prevailed, followed by the reigning world champion Nick Matthew , James Willstrop and the second in the world rankings Grégory Gaultierconquered. In the final, he clearly defeated Gaultier 11: 8, 11: 3 and 11: 4. It was Shabana's first victory in a World Series tournament since 2011.
