Jenő Kerényi

Jenő Kerényi (born November 20, 1907 in Budapest , Kingdom of Hungary , † July 10, 1975 in Budapest, Hungarian People's Republic ) was a Hungarian sculptor .

Life

Kerényi studied at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest and later in Rome. He created smaller figurative works mostly out of bronze and stone in the Expressionist style , but also monumental statues that were inspired by the classical style. His works mostly showed male or female figures "full of tension and movement".

Exhibitions and honors (selection)

From 1938 Kerényi took part in exhibitions with his sculptures. His work has been recognized with national and international art prizes. The “Jenő Kerényi Memorial Museum” was established in Szentendre .
