In the basement there are rooms for cultural events such as book presentations, film screenings, lectures, etc.

The history of the art department of the Timişoara Museum began with donations from the art lover Ormos Zsigmond . His donations were made mainly by Italian, Dutch, German, Austrian and Hungarian painters. Then there are the paintings by Romanian artists, above all the collection of the painter Corneliu Baba consisting of 90 paintings.

The painting collection was not only enlarged through donations, but also through acquisitions. In addition to paintings by the Timisoara painters Anselm Wagner or Anton Fialla , a painting by the drawing teacher Desidor Sinkovich was also acquired, which depicts the handover of the fortress key by the defeated Turkish defenders to Prince Eugene . The monk paintings by Adolf Humborg are also worth mentioning .
