The Carmel Holy Blood is a monastery of the Discalced Carmelites (OCD) in Dachau . The monastery was founded in 1964 by Carmelites from the Carmel of St. Joseph in Bonn-Pützchen and designed by the architect Josef Wiedemann . The monastery is located immediately to the north on the site of the former Dachau an der Würm concentration camp . There are about 20 sisters in the convent .

The architecture of the house is in the shape of a cross. Its axis is that of the camp street, the cells of the sisters form the arms, the cloister the head, the church and choir the body, the altar with the tabernacle the heart. The monastery has an approx. 8 hectare garden with a small lake. You enter the forecourt of the monastery through one of the camp's former watchtowers. On the right and left walls there are some preserved relics of priests who were murdered in the concentration camp in Dachau during the Nazi era.

The initiative to found a contemplative monastery in this place goes back to the then Prioress of the Carmel in Pützchen, Sr. Maria-Theresia of the crucified love († 1970). Sr. Maria Theresa wanted to build a place of atonement and reconciliation in a place of violence and horror. In addition to the then local bishop of Cologne, Cardinal Josepf Frings , Cardinals Hermann Volk and Julius Döpfner also support the idea and the construction of a monastery at this location. One of the main initiators of the monastery was the auxiliary bishop in Munich and Freising , Johannes Neuhäusler , who is also buried in the church. The first Holy Mass was celebrated on the Feast of the Precious Blood in 1964, July 1st, in the forecourt of the monastery church; the church consecration was made by Julius Cardinal Döpfner on November 22nd of the same year. The earlier Feast of the Precious Blood was at the same time the patronage of the Church and of Carmel.
