Y&T ( Yesterday & Today ) is a hard rock , heavy metal , and glam metal band founded in 1974 in San Francisco, California . In the 1970s they only played a regional role musically. With the move to A&M Records in 1981, the band began several successful years with a single on the Billboard Hot 100 .

history

Founding members of Y&T were Dave Meniketti (vocals, lead guitar), Leonard Haze (drums), Phil Kennemore (bass) and Joey Alves (rhythm guitar). The first seven studio albums were released with this original line-up. The album Contagious was recorded with Jimmy DeGrasso instead of Leonard Haze. Joey Alves was no longer on the album Ten, Stef Burns was signed for him. With this line-up, two more studio albums were released.

Y & T's best- known titles are Summertime Girls (a title that was often used in the American television series Baywatch and was listed at # 55 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1985) and Mean Streak . The band split in 1991, but reformed again a few years later.

Due to his lung cancer, Phil Kennemore was replaced for the 2010 tour by Brad Lang ( Jet Red ), who then remained an official member of the band until 2016. Kennemore succumbed to cancer on January 7, 2011. After the death of drummer Leonard Haze on September 11, 2016 and guitarist Joey Alves on March 12, 2017, band boss Dave Meniketti is now the last remaining original member.
