Yōsuke Kubozuka

Yōsuke Kubozuka ( Japanese 窪 塚 洋 介 , Kubozuka Yōsuke ; born May 7, 1979 in Kanagawa Prefecture ) is a Japanese actor .

biography

Yōsuke Kubozuka's father is Takayasu Kubozuka, who heads a research team at Nissan , and he has a younger brother, Shunsuke Kubozuka, who is also an actor. He has been married to the former reggae dancer Non-Chan since May 18, 2003 and has a son. Kubozuka went to Yokosuka Senior High School ( 横須賀 高等学校 ).

Kubozuka was a model for magazines and commercials before embarking on his television career. In 1995 he played for the first time in the drama Kindachi Case Files , he was known then in 1998 with his role in Great Teacher Onizuka . His portrayal of gang leader King in Ikebukuro West Gate Park earned him the 25th Japanese Television Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

In 2001 he was able to play the part of the romantic lover in Strawberry on the Shortcake alongside other young up-and-coming actors such as Hideaki Takizawa and Kyōko Fukada , which secured him great popularity among female viewers.

His greatest success to date was marked by two prizes from the Japanese Academy Awards for portraying a young Japanese man of Korean descent in the film Go . He also received international awards for this achievement.

On June 6, 2004, he survived a fall from his apartment on the 9th floor, only slightly injured. In connection with this incident and a break he took to raise his son, it was quiet around him until he came back to the screen in 2006 with the film Amour Legende .
