Yūichi Mizutani ( Japanese 水 谷 雄 一 , Mizutani Yūichi ; born May 26, 1980 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a former Japanese football player .

Career

Mizutani learned to play football on the school team at Shimizu Commercial High School and the university team at Kanto Gakuin University . He signed his first contract in 1999 with the Bellmare Hiratsuka (today: Shonan Bellmare). The club played in the highest league in the country, the J1 League . At the end of the 1999 season, the club was relegated to the J2 League . For the club he completed 22 games. In 2001 he moved to the first division club Avispa Fukuoka . At the end of the 2001 season, the club was relegated to the J2 League. In 2002 he was loaned to the second division club Cerezo Osaka . In 2003 he returned to Avispa Fukuoka. In 2005 he was runner-up in the J2 League with the club and was promoted to the J1 League. For the club he completed 144 games. In 2007 he moved to league rivals Kashiwa Reysol . In 2008 he moved to league rivals Kyoto Sanga FC . At the end of the 2010 season, the club was relegated to the J2 League. In 2011 he reached the final of the Kaiser Cup . For the club he completed 157 games. He then played for the second division Avispa Fukuoka (2013) and Kataller Toyama (2014). At the end of 2014, he ended his career as a football player.
