Yabe ( Japanese 矢 部 村 , - mura ) was a village in Yame County in Fukuoka Prefecture , Japan . On February 1, 2010, it merged with Kurogi , Tachibana and Hoshino to form the city of Yame .
The village of Yabe has about 1,730 inhabitants (as of 2006). The area is 80.46 km² and the population density is about 21.50 people per km².
In Yabe, among others, is green tea grown. Over a third of the population lives in agricultural households.
