The Yager Development GmbH is a German developer of computer games. The company, founded in 1999, is based in Berlin .

The company has only published two games since its inception, but both of them have won several prestigious awards and have been very well received by the specialist press. The studio's debut work, Yager , published in 2003 , was honored in particular for its successful technical implementation.

It wasn't until about nine years later, in June 2012, that Yager Development's second title, Spec Ops: The Line , appeared . The game has received international praise for its ingenious plot and staging, which repeatedly confronts the player with morally critical decisions.

At the German Developer Award 2012 , Spec Ops: The Line received the most prizes with five awards, namely in the jury category as "Best Action Game" and in the Academy categories "Best German Game", "Best Action", "Best Graphics" and "Best Console Game". At the same time, Yager Development was named “Best Studio” in Germany.

At E3 2014 in Los Angeles it was announced that the development studio Yager had taken over the development of Dead Island 2 instead of Techland , but in July 2015 the publisher Deep Silver withdrew the responsibility from the development studio . Differences in the view of the game were given as the reason.
