Wadaiko Yamato和 太 鼓 倭 is a group of Japanese Taiko and Wadaiko drummers. It was founded in 1993 by Masa Ogawa in Nara Prefecture , known as the land of the Yamato and considered the cradle of Japanese culture . The Kanji symbol 倭 (pronounced: Yamato ) is used for the group name , which in the written language means something like "the original, historical Japan" and is an allusion to the roots to which the group refers.

The philosophy of the group is that the beat of the drum, like the heartbeat, is the actual beat of life (“the drumbeat, like the heartbeat, is the very pulse of life”). Yamato started a world tour in 1998 and has already been to the People's Republic of China , South Korea , Indonesia and Singapore , as well as South America and Europe (70 concerts in Belgium , Great Britain , the Netherlands , Austria and Germany ). Most of their performances take place in Japan. In 2004 they performed in numerous Eastern European countries. On April 1, 2006, Yamato entered Wetten, dass ..? and on June 9, 2007 in Do You Understand Fun? on.
