Yampupata Peninsula

Yampupata is a peninsula in the Bolivian part of Lake Titicaca .
The Yampupata Peninsula is located in the northwestern part of the Copacabana Peninsula in the La Paz Department . Administratively it belongs to the Province of Manco Kapac , the Municipio Copacabana and the Canton of Zampaya . 975 meters northwest of the Yampupata Peninsula are the two islands Isla de la Luna and Isla del Sol ; the Strait of Yampupata runs between the latter and the peninsula .
The peninsula has a width of about 3 km and a length of about 10 km. The ridge of Yampupata rises with a height of 4026 m by about 200 m above the water level of Lake Titicaca. Larger towns on the peninsula are Yampupata on the northwest tip of the peninsula with 279 inhabitants ( 2001 census ) and Zampaya on the ridge of Yampupata.
