The Yanagisawa ( Japanese 柳 沢 氏 or 柳 澤 家 Yanagisawa-shi ) were a family of the Japanese sword nobility ( Buke ). From Tokugawa Tsunayoshi they rose to the daimyō class under Yoshiyasu . With an income of 150,000 Koku , the Yanagisawa residing in Kōriyama ( Nara Prefecture ) belonged to the great daimyō of the Edo period .

genealogy

  • Yoshiyasu ( 吉 保 , 1658-1714) was the son of a simple samurai and vassal of the Takeda clan with an income of 150 koku . He won the affection of Tsunayoshi, who bestowed him the titles Dewa no kami , Mino no kami and appointed him Chancellor . In 1690 he got the Sanuki-han ( Kazusa province ) with 11,000 koku, in 1694 Kawagoe with 82,000 koku. When Tsunayoshi adopted his nephew Tsunatoyo in 1704, Yoshiyasu got his han, namely Kofu with 150,000 koku. In Edo he had the rikugi-en put on.
    • Yoshisato ( 吉 里 , 1687-1745), son of Yoshiyasu, continued the main branch, which in 1724 was moved to Kōriyama ( Yamato Province ) with 150,000 koku. The branch resided there until the Meiji Restoration . The last daimyo was
      • Yasunobu ( 保 申 , 1846-1893). After 1868 he received the title Graf .
    • A side branch resided from 1723 to 1868 in Kurokawa, today a district of Tainai ( Niigata Prefecture ), with 10,000 koku. Then Vice Count.
    • Another branch resided from 1723 to 1868 in Mikkaichi, today a district of Shibata (Niigata) , also with 10,000 koku. Then Vice Count.

Remarks

  1. The Yanagisawa were allowed to use the name " Matsudaira ".
