Yann Queffélec (born September 4, 1949 in Paris , France ) is a French author.

Queffélec was born the son of the writer Henri Queffélec and brother of the pianist Anne Queffélec . In his early days he worked as a literary critic for a local weekly newspaper. There he also worked on a biography of Béla Bartók , which was published in 1981.

In 1983 Queffélec published his first novel, Le Charme noir . Two years later followed the second novel, Les Noces barbaren , which was filmed in 1987 under the name " Barbarische Hochzeit " by the Belgian director Marion Hänsel . Queffélec was awarded the French literary prize Prix ​​Goncourt for the novel .

Queffélec was married to the pianist Brigitte Engerer and has a daughter with her.
