Ye Banished Privateers is a folk band from Umeå , Sweden .
history
Inspired by Irish folk , shanties and traditional Scandinavian ballads, Ye Banished Privateers play their own interpretation of 18th century pirate music : a mix of folk and punk. Their central theme is ( pirate ) life at sea.
The debut album Songs and Curses was released on September 19, 2011 - just in time for International Talk Like a Pirate Day . The second album, The Legend of Libertalia , was released in September 2014.
In September 2013, Ye Banished Privateers performed for the first time at the pirate festival “Pirates - An adventurous journey through time” in Brückenkopfpark Jülich . In the summer of 2014 the band played with a partially changing line-up at various music festivals in Germany, including the Wacken Open Air , the Medieval Fantasy Spectaculum and again at the “Pirates” festival.
On June 30, 2017, the third album, First Night Back in Port , was released.
In 2018 they performed for the first time at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig.
On February 7th, 2020 the fourth album Hostis Humani Generis was released . However, due to the coronavirus pandemic , the release party could not take place as planned, and the band instead staged a live-stream event attended by 12,000 fans.
